00:00:00.119 --> 00:00:00.722
Hey, what is up?
00:00:00.722 --> 00:00:27.432
Wantrepreneurs and entrepreneurs all over the world, it's Brian LoFermento here, host of the Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur podcast, and this is an Action Saturday episode that is going to take exactly two hours for you to complete, and it is not the task that we all want, but it is certainly the task and the Action Saturday that we all need, and that's because this week's action to take as part of this Action Saturday is a boring task sprint.
00:00:27.432 --> 00:00:44.003
Yes, a boring task sprint, and there's three simple steps to completing this week's Action Saturday challenge, and that is step number one list out all of those little tiny boring tasks that you have been avoiding For all of us.
00:00:44.003 --> 00:00:45.326
We all have those things.
00:00:45.326 --> 00:00:50.674
I'll call myself out very publicly here that for me, it is for sure, my email inbox.
00:00:50.674 --> 00:01:07.287
That is something that it doesn't take a lot of time to reply to emails, but it's just one of those things that, in the midst of all the things that I've got going on across all my businesses, my email inbox does tend to get a little bit over flooded, and so it's one of those things that I just put off.
00:01:07.287 --> 00:01:14.659
So there's some other things as well, where step one, just go through and list all those little mundane things that you've been avoiding.
00:01:14.659 --> 00:01:48.049
And then step number two this is the simple one, but it's the most important part of this week's Action Saturday, and that is to set aside two hours to tackle as many of those things as possible, or to tackle as much of that one thing as possible, because I know that if I just carved out two hours and I said for two hours, all I'm going to do is focus on my email inbox, it will look drastically differently two hours from now, and so that's why we call it a boring task sprint, because I'm not asking you to dedicate an entire day to's why we call it a boring task sprint, because I'm not asking you to dedicate an entire day to this.
00:01:48.049 --> 00:02:05.852
Maybe make it a little bit more fun on yourself and go to a coffee shop and literally set a timer on your phone and just say, okay, for two hours I'm going to sip on this delicious drink and I'm just going to do these things or this thing that I've been putting off, and I promise you you're going to feel better two hours from now.
00:02:05.852 --> 00:02:07.828
You're going to get so much done.
00:02:08.280 --> 00:02:17.599
It's the beauty of sprints and why I really love the sprint format, whether it's a two-hour chunk of a sprint, like what we're talking about in today's episode, or for slightly bigger things.
00:02:17.599 --> 00:02:22.968
I frequently do 30, 60, 90-day sprints in my own businesses and with my team.
00:02:22.968 --> 00:02:28.325
So I think it's so powerful to set aside this time, because the time's not going to find itself.
00:02:28.325 --> 00:02:40.091
You really need to be the one who takes control and initiates it and carves that time out, put it on your calendar and just get it done, whether it's this weekend or there's a certain day or time this week that you're going to do it.
00:02:40.091 --> 00:02:44.852
Put it in your calendar and literally, that's why I'm dedicating an entire Action Saturday to it.
00:02:44.852 --> 00:02:49.801
You just need to do it.
00:02:49.822 --> 00:02:50.424
And then step number three.
00:02:50.424 --> 00:02:51.568
If you're wondering well, brian, what happens at the end?
00:02:51.568 --> 00:02:53.415
Two hours of great work, of things that I have been avoiding?
00:02:53.415 --> 00:02:54.942
What happens after that?
00:02:54.942 --> 00:02:55.883
Well, step number three.
00:02:55.903 --> 00:03:12.223
I think it's really important for us to reward ourselves with whatever that looks like for you, if it's your favorite snack or candy or favorite drink or your favorite activity, and you say, hey, after this two hours, I get to go for a bike ride, or I get to go hang out by the water, or whatever it is for you.
00:03:12.223 --> 00:03:34.788
Reward yourself, because I, as a fan of these sprints, I think that it's a really powerful habit to get into is that when you look forward to these sprints and part of looking forward to it is rewarding yourself at the end of it you'll probably incorporate this style of getting things done into your weekly workload and weekly workflow as well.
00:03:34.788 --> 00:03:36.627
So I'm a big fan of this.
00:03:36.627 --> 00:03:38.004
It's a boring task.
00:03:38.004 --> 00:03:43.328
Sprint, like I said, it's not the action Saturday you want, but it is for sure the action Saturday you need.
00:03:43.328 --> 00:03:44.926
So I'm not gonna say anything else.
00:03:44.926 --> 00:03:46.485
Go out there, take action.
