Measuring What Matters: Moses Kasozi's Vision for Real-Time Wellness Tracking Through Oseer

The journey from childhood habits in Uganda to founding a wellness tech company in Colorado demonstrates the remarkable path of Moses Kasozi, the innovative mind behind Oseer. Drawing inspiration from the simple yet impactful health practices from his home country, Moses has created a revolutionary wellness advisor that helps users develop sustainable habits through hyper-personalized recommendations. What started as a personal challenge became a mission to help others thrive through accessible wellness technology.
Hi, Moses! Thanks for joining us today. Tell us about your business. Who do you serve, how do you serve them, and what's the impact that your business and work makes?
Oseer is a wellness advisor for people interested in implementing long-term habits that would help them improve and sustain their health & wellness. It's a solution that helps users bridge the gap between the activities they engage in and their wellness goals.
By providing daily hyper-personalized wellness recommendations, Oseer users are able to improve their sleep, health, fitness, nutrition and mindfulness.
The application is BYOD, so users can connect Oseer to a wearable of their choice.
Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.
Growing up in Uganda, we always engaged in little habits that ended up having significant impacts on our lives. Whether it was handwashing before we ate, or sleeping under a mosquito net at night, or boiling our drinking water; these little things helped us live a healthy life in an unhealthy environment.
It was this same mindset that I tried to keep after I migrated to my new home in Colorado. I asked myself - what little habits can I implement here to thrive? It may be a hike on the weekend, or a walk in the morning, or biking on a nice summer day, or staying hydrated.
The challenge I faced in Uganda, and in Colorado, was that I couldn't easily measure the effect of these habits on my wellness in real-time.
I've always believed that Entrepreneurship is about problem solving. This belief was solidified when I worked for a startup in the beginning of my professional career. I experienced the process of building a product from scratch, marketing it, managing it, and eventually deprecating it.
So faced with the challenge of developing new habits, maintaining them, and measuring their effect on my wellness, I decided to use my newly learned skills to build Oseer, a product that will help others develop and maintain sustainable health & wellness habits.
My experience growing up in Uganda combined with new skills made my transition from Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur seamless.
Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.
It was unfortunately a sad moment at the time. I had transitioned to a role I enjoyed and then got fired after a very short period of time. This painful experience was a strong enough driver to push me into using all the skills I had learned to execute on a business idea I was keeping on the bookshelf for quite some time.
Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?
Email - Communication is very important in entrepreneurship, and I spend a lot of time ensuring that I communicate as accurately as I'd envision what I want the business and our products to be in the market.
We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.
We initially tried to raise money without a prototype. Of course we failed. As first-time founders, it was going to be extremely difficult to do so, but we were full of passion and did anyway. We found out that it wouldn't work, especially for a concept as abstract as Oseer. People needed to see it, use it, and get results.
What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?
We built personas of our expected users and interviewed as many of them as possible. We then used this information to build an MVP that generated user understanding and enthusiasm.
What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?
I should have started sooner than I did. We all want to start when we are ready, but you can never be fully ready. The sooner you get in the arena, the quicker you learn the needed lessons and become a better entrepreneur.
