Hi, Dan! Thanks for joining us today. Tell us about your business. Who do you serve, how do you serve them, and what's the impact that your business and work makes?

I teach solopreneurs how to implement frameworks that simplify their business, help them earn more money, and live a more fulfilling life.

Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.

I don't know that it ever goes away. Imposter syndrome is real. But that's just a symptom of learning something new. Don't get cozy, keep challenging yourself, there is always more to learn, and ways to be better. The vision is what creates the desire for us to grow. Never stop wanting more - lean into the wantrepreneur within :)

Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.

I've always wanted to work for myself. I even got my degree in Entrepreneurship. I had tried and failed many times along the way; business ideas that never took off or failures that lost me money and bruised my ego.

Finally, I got fed up with my job and working for someone else. I was so stressed going to work every day, that the uncertainty of working for myself couldn't be any worse. Luckily I had saved up some money and found my first client before I put in my two-week notice. Looking back, it's been a very rocky road, but I've learned so much and I'm happier than I've ever been! I am truly grateful that I took the leap and gave myself a shot because if I hadn't I wouldn't be here today!

Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?

Having a coach, in general, is a game-changer. I've always liked to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty. I've learned a lot in the process but at this point in my life and business, I can't afford to do things on my own. That means hiring VAs, contractors, and agencies to scale my business, but most importantly, I need an executive partner to get feedback and insights on my ideas and strategies.

Making an investment in yourself is the only investment you can never lose on. I will continue to hire coaches and join masterminds for as long as I have the bandwidth to do so in my week and day because that alone has helped me progress so much further than I ever would have been able to on my own. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.

There have been many pivots along the way. I've been heavily influenced by the birth of my children. They helped me gain clarity on how I want to live my life and run my business.

When we spend 40+ hours a week (and let's be honest, it's more than that!) it's easy to be consumed by our business. We overinflate its importance in our life which is SO much more than just work. My children have helped me be more present in the moment. To realize that my business is merely a tool to help me achieve what I want to get out of life.

It's not easy to let go, but doing so has improved my quality of life and helped me build a better, more fulfilling business in the process.

What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?

It actually had to do nothing with business itself. I put a lot of time, energy, and focus into my mindset and the relationship with my subconscious mind. Doing so has given me extreme clarity in what I want from life and business. It's helped me become the person I've always wanted to be because I am in control of my reality. I now can break any limiting beliefs I've previously held and continue to get better and better every day.

What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?

You can't do it alone; get help. People and relationships are everything in business - it's not what you know, it's who you know. Don't think you know everything. Don't try to do everything yourself. It's okay to ask for help. The moment you think you have nothing more to learn is the moment you stop growing. Every single person has something of value to teach and that includes you!
