Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.
The moment I felt like I truly transitioned from a wantrepreneur to an entrepreneur was when I closed my first deal as SecureConnect Solutions LLC. It wasn’t just about landing the client; it was about seeing the vision I had for my business come to life. I had spent months building the foundation, refining my services, and fostering partnerships—especially with Videri. That first deal validated all the hard work and risks I had taken, proving that my ideas weren’t just theoretical but practical and valuable to my target audience.
It was in that moment that I realized I wasn’t just dreaming of running a business anymore—I was running one. The confidence that came with knowing I was solving real problems for my clients was a turning point. It fueled my motivation to keep growing, innovating, and making an impact. That’s when I knew: this was no longer just an idea, it was a reality.
Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.
The moment that motivated me to take the entrepreneurial leap was when I recognized a recurring gap in the industries I worked in. Businesses were constantly struggling to balance their need for innovative technology and reliable IT solutions with the high costs and impersonal service of larger providers. I realized I had the skills, experience, and network to solve these problems myself—but what really solidified my decision was my family.
My wife has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader throughout this journey. She saw my potential before I even fully believed in it and encouraged me to take the leap. Her unwavering belief in me gave me the confidence to pursue this dream. At the same time, I was driven by a desire to create a business that would not only make an impact but also give me the flexibility to spend more time with my wife and kids.
It wasn’t just about building a company; it was about building a life that aligned with my priorities—family, passion, and purpose. That combination of professional motivation and personal values is what ultimately pushed me to make the leap and start SecureConnect Solutions LLC.
Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?
One game-changing tool for my business has been the Videri platform. As a partner and reseller of their digital signage solutions, this platform is at the heart of what we do at SecureConnect Solutions. Its intuitive design, robust cloud-based management system, and unparalleled security features make it incredibly easy to deliver impactful solutions to our clients.
The Videri platform allows me to provide turnkey services, from installing digital canvases to remotely managing content and troubleshooting across multiple locations. This not only streamlines operations for my clients but also sets my business apart by offering a truly hands-free, scalable solution that saves time and resources.
It’s not just the technology itself but also the value it provides to my clients. Seeing how the Videri platform transforms their customer engagement and marketing efforts is incredibly rewarding—and knowing that I can confidently stand behind a product that’s both innovative and reliable has been critical to my success.
We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.
One of the most pivotal lessons in my journey came from a previous role where I worked with a company that prioritized short-term gains over long-term relationships. I saw firsthand how this approach strained partnerships, created missed opportunities, and, ultimately, led to client dissatisfaction. It was frustrating to watch because I believed there was a better way to do business—one that focused on trust, collaboration, and delivering consistent value.
This experience taught me that success isn’t just about hitting numbers or closing deals; it’s about building relationships that last. When I started SecureConnect Solutions LLC, I knew I wanted to take a completely different approach. I committed to creating a business that was client-focused and built on integrity, innovation, and personalized support.
There was also a personal lesson that came alongside this professional one. During this same period, I realized how much time my demanding roles were taking away from my family. That realization helped me pivot toward a career that allows me to spend more time with my wife and kids while pursuing my passion for helping businesses thrive.
That failure—or perhaps more accurately, that moment of clarity—changed my course entirely. It helped me create a business and life that align with my values, and it’s been the driving force behind everything I do today.
What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?
One unconventional strategy that significantly impacted my business was hiring my intern, Mason, as my Social Media Marketing Director. I was introduced to Mason through my business coach, and it’s a decision that has transformed the way SecureConnect Solutions operates.
Mason is incredibly talented, but due to his neurodivergence, he had been struggling to find a job where his skills could shine. Bringing him onto my team has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made. Mason has completely taken the reins on content creation, marketing, and social media scheduling, freeing me to focus on growing the business and serving my clients.
His creativity, dedication, and fresh perspective have been invaluable. I can confidently say that SecureConnect Solutions would not be where it is today without his contributions. This experience has shown me the power of looking beyond conventional hiring practices and embracing the unique strengths of every individual. I’m so thankful for Mason and everything he does for me and the business.
What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?
The one piece of advice I’d give to aspiring or newer entrepreneurs is this: the thought of starting a business is far scarier than actually doing it. The “what-ifs” and fear of the unknown can feel overwhelming, but once you take that first step, you’ll realize it’s not as daunting as it seems.
Looking back, I wish I’d known how much of that fear was just in my head. Starting a business isn’t about having every answer upfront; it’s about learning, adapting, and growing along the way. So, my advice is simple: go full-on Nike and “Just Do It!” You’ll surprise yourself with what you’re capable of, and you’ll never know what’s possible unless you take the leap.
