Hi, Monica! Thanks for joining us today. Tell us about your business. Who do you serve, how do you serve them, and what's the impact that your business and work makes?

I did an episode a while back now about my business Tidy Archival, which focuses on organizing and digitization. I currently serve the Maryland and DC areas, and I assist anyone who needs assistance with getting organized at any stage they are at. I really like to focus on those helping people who have always enjoyed the idea of organizing, but never knew where to start. I also really enjoy helping people who have mental disabilities, such as ADHD, and set them on the road to success with developing an organizational plan to help them get organized and continue to stay organized.

Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.

Honestly, I think once I designed and switched my website to public, that's when it all started to feel real.

Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.

After a consistent number of jobs in a row with bad experiences with bosses and environmental concerns, I wanted to finally go off on my own path and be my own boss.

Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?

Canva has definitely been a game-changer for me. It has been so great to still use my creative side, and incorporate it into my business.

We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.

At the beginning, it was very discouraging when I didn't get clients right away although the area I was living in didn't have any professional organizers. It was even more so after a couple of years and only having two steady clients, but now that I've moved to a more populated area, it is definitely easier.

What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?

Not only do I use my website to promote my business, but I also utilize findmyorganizer.com, which definitely helps me obtain more traffic to my website.

What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?

Definitely join Alignable!! It's 100% better than LinkedIn and a lot easier to find other people in the same field and make connections. Plus there are so many business learning materials on Alignable!
