ABOUT MAX
Max Martínez is an entrepreneur, activist, producer, strategist, athlete, and creator from Miami, FL. After breaking Michael Vick’s Nike SPARQ Combine record as a 16-year-old, he was recruited to play football at Cornell University, where he played cornerback, running back, and kick returner for 4 seasons. Not just an athlete, he started and sold his first company, a pickup and delivery laundry service, and discovered his passion for entrepreneurship and risks. After graduating with a BA in Government from Cornell’s College of Arts & Sciences in 2013, Max moved to San Francisco, where he co-founded a FinLit startup called Phroogal.
After a brief stint at Instagram, he moved to New York City to become Managing Director of Venture Capital and Business Development at a private equity firm. He then moved to Madrid, where he began his independently-operated agency working cross-functionally with clients across industries. He built the ‘Miami Legacy’ MLS team brand concept for David Beckham’s franchise and was endorsed by AS.com & The Miami New Times in 2016.
At just 29, Max made history by submitting his paperwork to become the first candidate in the 2021 Miami Mayoral Election and challenge the incumbent. Inspired to create tangible change in his hometown, he ran on a platform of fighting to protect the City of Miami’s most vulnerable residents from the immediate effects of climate gentrification & solving Miami’s longest-running issue, traffic. The only challenger to secure a double-digit percentage of the vote, outpacing all the other challengers combined, Max finished a clear runner-up for Mayor of the City of Miami in November 2021.
