We have a very special guest joining us today: Sondre Rasch, the co-founder and CEO of SafetyWing. SafetyWing is an incredible company that aims to build a global social safety net for digital nomads and remote workers. Sondre has an impressive background, having worked as a policy advisor for the government in Norway before founding SafetyWing (among other startups beforehand!). Today, we're going to dive deep into the challenges and fears of starting a business, particularly for digital nomads and remote workers. Sondre will share his journey with us, from his work in social policy to founding SuperSide, and ultimately, creating SafetyWing. We'll discuss the lack of a social safety net for people working on the internet, as well as the affordable health insurance options that SafetyWing offers. We'll also touch on the unique challenges faced by entrepreneurs and the concept of being a digital nomad. If you've ever considered freelancing or entrepreneurship but hesitated due to the fear of losing benefits, this episode is for you.
ABOUT SONDRE
Sondre Rasch is co-founder and CEO of SafetyWing, an all-remote company on a mission to build a global social safety net for digital nomads and remote workers. Sondre studied economics and computer science then worked as a social policy advisor for the government of Norway. Dissatisfied with the slow pace of change, he founded a platform for freelance designers called SuperSide (Y Combinator 2016). Through this work, he discovered the lack of social safety net for people working on the internet. This inspired the creation of SafetyWing (Y Combinator 2018), which has so far raised $50 million in venture capital funding and whose globally-distributed team consists of 150 people from 60+ countries around the world.
